    Lowrance - Down Imaging Detail?

    Hi -

My down imaging view on my HDS Gen 1 LSS 1 lacks detail especially at deeper water areas. Also the depth number shows usually blank. The attached picture is typical - thin bottom line and no depth reading

The side imaging work fine with good detail.

I have tried switching 455/800khz, cranking up the contrast, different pallets, different speeds etc. I also leveled the transducer using the bubble level and quarter method. Nothing seemed to help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

And you changed the contrast with no better results? Could be losing the DI crystal going out) or could be the module. Is SI just as bad?

    Thanks for the reply.

The side imaging appears fine. The down imaging is the problem, no detail at depth - faint thin bottom line at best.

I didn't know the crystal could go bad on the down imaging.

Have you seen this before when down imaging goes bad and side imaging is OK?

I will switch out the module box and see if that changes anything then the transducer. I'm lucking I got an extra set up to try out and test.

    Thanks again.

I switched the LSS-1 transducer to a new/used one. And it works now!

    Looks like a bad transducer.

Is there a way to fix a transducer?

    Thanks again for the help
