    Allison owners PLEASE READ!

You guys with the seastar tournament cylinders please check your cylinder and see if it's part of this Advisory Notice from seastar. Don't drag your feet on this. It has instructions of what to look for and what to do. If your cylinder is affected you may not get a warning sign that something is wrong. It can go from perfect to no steering at all in a fraction of a second and when it does the motor is free to move where ever it wants because the system looses pressure.
below is a link to the advisory.

Mike it’s probably not but I would definitely check to make sure. There’s no telling how long this stuff sits on a shelf somewhere.

I checked mine Matt and it falls in the date on Seastar's bulletin. Reading their online advisor/replacement notice I saw where you are advised to turn the wheel after checking fluids etc. etc. and if the motor don't turn to contact them for a replacement. If your motor turns when the wheel is turned without slack, they won't cover it as a recall item. At least that is how I read it on their website. So I reckon a fellow has to have a death or near death experience before it is worthy of replacing according to Seastar. Somebody correct me if I read it wrong. I was hoping for an automatic replacement based on the manufacturing date.

I would call them Johnny they've been great to work with on mine. Mine was working perfect until it went out. It showed no sign of it failing and didn't give any warning before it let go. Luckily we wasn't seriously hurt but it could have been allot worse. I just wish I would have known about this a few weeks ago. Lol

I agree with Matt, call them.
I would certainly hope they would exchange it whether it is showing signs or not. This steering is definitely something you don't want to take lightly.

I just got off the phone with them they will do nothing until it fails. He continued to say that they do not make a steering cylinder that should be on a boat that runs 90 + mph. That is some kind of great customer service right there.

Do you think this pro version has the same plastic that can break?
    APPLICATIONS
Seastar Pro is for high-performance boats with single non-power-assisted outboards up to 350 HP, especially those capable of speeds over 65 MPH, which demand maximum steering control and comfort. It is suitable for use with high-performance propellors and jack plates.

I'm not sure what you are highlighting in the pic? Is it good or bad?

Highlighting that uflex has a steel piston as opposed to plastic piston in the SeaStar

I was fortunate mine does not fall within the advisory. The steering feels good on my boat, knock on wood. Maybe they have beefed up the newer ones or something. Sucks to hear they acted that way on the phone.
