Craig the one on the SeaStar the piston is plastic and it splits. This allows the pressure to by pass and you have no steering control.

So far no return phone call from Seastar. We will see if they call back or not. I left a pretty detailed message.

I wonder if the Pro series has the same plastic piece?
I finally got a good response. SeaStar is going to provide a replacement cylinder for my boat. I’ll either have to pull mine off and send pictures of the on-boat mount back with it as well as my hull ID to get a replacement or I can have a dealer do the job. If a dealer does the job SeaStar said they would go ahead and send a replace cylinder to the dealer. If I do the replacement they won’t send me a replacement until they get my old one in hand. I am glad to report they are stepping up and taking ownership of the issue.
That’s good to hear Johnny.
Mine was in the date range too of being bad, so I called this morning and talked to a guy named Bruce and he is taking care of it. He just asked for pictures of the part# on cylinder, date code, Hull Id# and shipping address. He said he would send it asap.
