If I set the auto pilot on my ULTREX the motor continuously goes left and right about 3 inches back-and-forth constantly. It hold the direction. It did not used to do this. Does anybody understand why does this? Thanks

Mine does that when the prop is seriously fouled with grass.
Mine would do that occasionally. Usually when it was calm. Try turning the boat scale down
Thx for the replies. The prop was clean. It was pretty calm out so I will scale back the boat size to see if that helps. Thanks for the suggestions. What is a bit confusing is it has never did this prior.
mine does that too and it drives me crazy, it usually does that when its a calm day with little to no wind and current.

Mine does this when I'm going 2.5 or less and trying to crawl down a shoreline. It doesn't do it often, but it does seem to do it more when there is no wind, or very slight tail wind pushing the boat causing it to make constant small corrections.

Mine does it also when no wind, wife ask is it going to self destruct!
Needs wind/current or it will keep over correcting. The easy solution is to just not use when it is calm, the boat wont move much anyway.

My Ulterra has the same electronics and it does this when I am creeping along on calm days. Faster speeds or more wind and its OK. I spoke with MinnKota technical support about it and he said it was most likely related to the GPS and how often it pinged the satellites. I either turn AutoPilot off or switch to the Magnetic compass for my Autopilot.

Fortrex don't have that problem.
It could need to be recalibrated. A friend had the same problem and corrected it after recalibration.

Having similar issues. Fastman151 what do you mean turning the boat scale down? Not familiar with that.
In your settings there is a selection called boat scale. The lower the setting the slower the motor corrects its position. Lower settings help keep it from continuously over correcting in calm conditions. On my aluminum boat I have it set on -2 but you need to experiment and find what works best for your boat.
Just don’t sell the fortrex like I mistakingly did. You’ll need it when the Ultrex is the shop.

Boat Scale setting. Most of us use the - 2 option.
If you set the mode to "Legacy" using you remote, it will use a compass heading instead of the GPS heading and it will stop the constant back and forth movement
