Need some help setting up a champion 188

Just picked up a new to me 2003 champion 188. Has an Evinrude 200 with a 10inch slidemaster and a 14.5" x 24p prop. I leveled the bottom of the boat by the drain plug and leveled the prop to that. Its sitting at 4-1/8". If i go any lower the boat will chine walk uncontrollably around 55. Where its set to right now it gets out of the hole pretty good but if i give it full throttle it will blow out, once on plane it drives nice, no chine. Will run 65 at 6k rpm and i feel like theres more throttle... I feel like if i raise the plate to the always recommended 3.5" i will be way to high in the rpm range. Should i be looking for a new prop in maybe a 26p??

25 Tempest with rude hub kit is the right prop, you should be able to run at least 3 1/2" prop height, and pretty easy to find 70 mph.

Unless you're running at altitude, which will affect performance for sure.
