Carbon & Gen 3 on same boat transducer question

I have a Carbon 12 and a Gen 3 12. I’ve got LSS2 and structure scan on boat AND just got 3 in 1 active imaging. Can the Gen 3 run on the active imaging transducer? If not, do I just network it to the Carbon, does it just share the same image? All of this networking is quite confusing to me.

I run a carbon and gen 3 combo. From what I think I know, the gen 3 can not run or see the AI 3-1. The carbon can only see it with at least the 18.3 update. And to prevent any issues, I turned off sharing images between the 2 units so the gen 3 didn't even know the 3-1 existed. I only shared map and waypoints via ethernet

If you have the latest update on the Carbon, it can use an active imaging transducer. If the Carbon is connect by Ethernet to the Gen 3 and you want to be able to view the image, on one of the units, Select Pages, Sonar, Network Sonar. Then to view the transducer, on the Gen 3, select the sonar view and in the menu near the bottom where it says source, select Carbon.
