    BASS Live

Are pickerel really that much of a pain? They all seem to be commenting about them.

Yes northern pike are a pain when you're fishing for bass and up here in my area they seem to be everywhere this year. Some days it's 3 pike for every bass.

Pickeral and cayuga go hand in hand...jerkbaits, chatters and spinnerbaits are staples all summer there and the pickeral love em...then you put a swimbait on and get that bit in half lol

I've lost hundreds of baits over the years to pike and muskies, cousins to the pickeral. On most lakes in MN, they will eat any bait that a bass will eat, as well as any bait a walleye will eat, as well as any bait a bluegill or crappie will eat. In essence, they eat everything, and they have sharp teeth that will break you off instantly if they get the bait in their mouth. If I am just fun fishing, any time I am flipping a jig, casting a crank, or using a jerkbait, I use a short strand of tie-able leader to protect my baits.

I've lost more jigs and creature baits to muskie than I can count

Pickerel are a pain especially during tournaments. Every time you hook into one you have to retie and they just shred baits apart. Fun fishing they can change a boring day into a fun day if the bass aren’t cooperating.

You wanna see some pickerel come out on oneida in may and throw a rattle trap. Things are ferocious. And yes our lakes are LOADED with them
