For those of you who have some or have had some how are they holding up ? Still smooth and low maintenance?
thanks fellas!

really depends on the gear ratio and how you use them. Generally, "high peformance" products are seldom "low maintenance", kind of like a Volkswagon, and a Porsche. They are amazing reels, but need attention every year. Dan

Got two, love them both.
I love mine they are great performers I use them mostly for bottom contact like casting jigs Texas rigs and things that I don’t use a ton of reeling for and they have stayed smooth even with the aluminum gears those are all 7:1 . I had two 6: ratio reels for cranking and spinner baits and they did get Geary fairly quick I did the brass gear swap with those two reels
Love mine!

Great info, thankyou boys !
Love mine 8.5. I had tackle trap do a bunch of upgrades to it. Smooth as silk.
how does the ratio affect the reel long term?
Does the HG version wear down the fastest ?

the XG will give you a year or so with no issues. then even if just bottom contact they will get geary with moderate use over a year. Dan

How about the hg?
Been a absolute pleasure using the metanium mgl. For the price I can’t imagine much better
Nitro z21
not as bad

I hear people changing out the gears to brass from the Curado K. My question is since the mgl is 6.2oz after the brass gears what will it roughly be ? 6.7?
main gear only, you still have to use stock MGL Pinion. You also need the Curado drag washer. Dan

Thanks Dan , any idea on the weight of the reel after the brass gear upgrade ?
Sorry, been super busy...correct none more than .4 diff and IMHO in most cases un-noticable. Dan
