    Well that was not fun.

We just had a strong band of thunderstorms blow through. My GF and I were in the middle of dinner when both our phones sounded an emergency alarm. The message was that we were in a tornado warning and to seek shelter now. She ran towards the basement and I ran upstairs to get 2 flashlights and my tablet to keep on top of the storm. We are down stairs for a minute and she goes up to get our cats. I find the weather station report and there is a storm with rotation directly upon us. I go up the stairs and call for her. Then I hear a roar like a train and get serious about calling her back down to the basement. The roaring is getting more intense by the time she meets me and she tells me it's the train coming by. We live 3 houses from a train track on a dead end street. The train just when back on line 2 months ago. What are the odds it would run by us at the same time we were getting a tornado alert? Nearly sh/t myself. The storm was already 5 miles past us by the time she got the cats. That's a first for me to get a shelter now alert. Surprised how calm I was but maybe shouldn't have been considering the danger.

We get the seek shelter now alarm here probably 10 times a year.

My daughter lives 10 miles from us. Something touched down near her place less than a minute away from her. She could hear the whirring sound.

It's been 10 years since the last tornado that did damage in my town.

The national weather service message tonight was that a storm with tornado rotation was over us specificly. The warning initiated at that moment. We have one more band to suffer through in about an hour.

We've had a couple storms that have had us worried. Unfortunately, anytime there is a storm, the weather people go into crisis mode anymore so it's hard to take them seriously anymore. Sometimes you can hear it in their voices though, that's when you know it's actually time to take cover.

Three weeks ago we got the alert on our cellphones. We got hit by a small tornado ten minutes later. It's not always bullsh#t!

In Oklahoma, the seek shelter alert means everyone is supposed to go outside and look up at the sky.

When the sticks and leaves started raining-down from way up in the sky I knew something was coming. But I still had to watch out the widow you don't have many chances to see tornados in Minnesota.

In Canada, they mow the lawn (while keeping an eye on the twister)...

Wow. I guess your heart is working just fine. What are the odds of a train going by at that moment

At least she knows that as a tornado roars over her, her man will come to the top of steps and calmly call to her.
