    Eliminate Side Vu Black Bar

Do we have the ability to eliminate the black bar under the boat while using side vu? Specifically for a EM+93sv. Do you feel there is a lot of information in that under the boat area that you would miss? If you eliminate that area would you have more pixels to devote to the side vu, i.e., 20' of water at 60' side vu you would have a third more pixels you could use to look at that 60'. I am thinking particularly since the EM+93sv's don't have a dedicated transducer for viewing straight down the side vu has the info to stitch it together without the black bar.

Would that be something we could ask Garmin to consider in an update? Do you think there is a benefit?

Yeah you can ask them, not sure how though.....i'd say either an email or phone.....

Some see it as a benefit as to see fish in the water column and others dont....i guess it all depends on the person and how they use it.

Not sure why you would not want it.

Humminbird has it for a couple of tasks.
It is popular with the wreck hunters that just want to see the bottom.
It is a tool used for SAR where the target will be on the bottom.

In both cases it eliminates the water column taking up screen space and allows for a wider search area without loosing detail.
MonteSS, I used it when assisting with the search for the missing person in Rivanna Res. a few years ago.
With other equipment, a tow fish is used to get a transducer close to the bottom to reduce the water column size.
