Question Dryer vent location on back of dryer?

Doing a quick poll. Who's vent exits in the center, off to right, or off to left? Ours is 12 on center from one side that leaves 15 on center from other side. Builder of new house wanting to place vent in middle. But wonder if dryers have different locations.

Mine is center off to the left as viewed from the front of the dryer. Much closer to the left side than the right.

Is it a issue which side it comes out for your application? Ours is slightly to the left.

To some, it matters more if it's a LH or RH crank.

The most piss poor designs in history, they should all exit at a 90 degrees angle, while being recessed into the back.

Problem is that some installations will need to be to the right, to the left, straight up, down, or back. They can't win! At least, not until grout-scout shows them his new universal joint design and signs a contract to allow manufacturing under his patent!

Man I have thought about it for years. You lose 5” minimum because the current design and that’s with 90’s. Horrible design!

Put the wall vent to the side to minimize wasted space. The vent out of the dryer is center”ish”, it gets a 90 up and then loop up and down with another 90 out the wall.

Mine is to the right of center. Good thing every dryer vent hose is flexible.

I installed one of these so I could get the dryer closer to the wall.. figured it might be a lint catcher but it’s almost spotless 2 years later as I move the appliances to clean the floors once a year

The vent can be moved. You'll see punch outs on the dryer shell. I have changed a few vent locations in dryers and you pretty much disassemble the entire dryer to do it.

This is what I have.. But I built the laundry room and wanted it to hug the back wall the best possible.

I made a recessed box in the wall, kinda like the ones that are for the washer valves and drain.

Best practice, put panty hose over the hose, and let tge hot air heat the house. No outside penetrations of house.
