    Ultrex ticking

I just installed an Ultrex 80/45 with the sonar transducer. It makes a ticking noise which I know is the transducer. I can hear it when it’s deployed and I’m wondering if it is normal for it to be that loud. Also is there any harm caused by leaving units turned on when motor is stowed. I know I’ve read about heat casing a transducer problem. thanks

Normal. It will be louder if it can’t see bottom as the unit turns up the power. It’s just basically a speaker/microphone, so heat isn’t a worry.

Why wouldn’t you put it in standby when you pull it oow so it stops pinging?

You can leave your units on when stowed. Mine stay on from the minute I launch until I pick the boat up at the end of the day. A lot of people do it this way. I don't use standby mode.
