I also have a 2007 Z21 with a 250 ProXS I have a 26 Tempest and I could hit 70 on GPS with just me in the boat but after I installed my down/sidevu ducer I lost like 8mph. Its mounted to low. I recently put a 26 Fury 4 on and now I can get 68 or so.

I have a 08 z21i, running a Yamaha 250 hpdi, yamaha 25t1 prop. Half tank of gas, flat smooth water, I have seen 70 a couple times on gps with rpms at 5950. I just dont think you can squeeze any more speed than 70 out of this setup, that been said 66-68 is easy to hit.

What engine? Jackplate/size (Should be a 10" on a Z21). Keep in mind that reaching the max rpms with adequate bow lift is the primary goal for best performance & longevity of an outboard. The speed will be what it is. Based on my 09 Z21 with a Mercury 250 ProXS Optimax & now the V8 four stroke, this hull is capable of 71-75 mph.

Prop selection needs to be accomplished with your normal boat load for overall best performance. A trued 25P Tempest+ (with increased rake for bow lift) on the 2 stroke with a 10" Bob's JP gave me 5950 rpms and 69-70 in the summer. In the winter I had to change up to a 26P Tempest+ to reduce rpms and would see 73 mph.

Here is a test-n-tune session held on the Potomac during a winter month with the 26P. Full fuel tanks and gear. 72 mph 5950 rpms.

With the V8 and a trued 23P 3 Blade Fury during the summer I reach 6150 rpms and 73 mph. During the past winter with a 24P Fury I saw 6190 and 75 mph.

To eliminate the speed BS factor here is the Merc Monitor after the initial run with the V8 & the 24. Tweeking the JP height got me some more rpms and speed over this.

Mikesxpress, those are great numbers! I hope the 250hp SHO I have on order can get those speeds!

Just put the 2019 SHO on my 2007 Z21. I hit 71 buy myself and half tank of fuel. I am running a 25p Yamaha T1 prop. I was hitting 5800 Rpms. I need to get to 6000. I will be trying a 24 Fury I think.
