Running a G2 WOT.... Good, Bad, Ugly?

What thoughts or technical justification do you experts have to support the claim that you can run a G2 WOT (where applicable, obviously) w/o much concern of damage, wear and tear, etc...?

I tend to open mine up and Let 'er Eat when conditions are right, w/ no concerns. Should I try to keep her in the 75% throttle range, as other mfgs recommend, or just keep on keeping on?

    Thanks BK

Click on the link for the performance data from Evinrude. You can run it WFO or at any RPM you'd like.

I run mine wide open for 15 miles or more every chance i get, that's when it's fun.

I think extended idling is probably worse, and not putting the boat on the pad is probably lugging the motor.

Mine is a tiny G1 but it loves the 4000-4500 range for cruising. I can cruise at 4K, 35mph, but I only pick up 5mph at 5200.

Yes I’m in a tin so the hulk sucks! The motor loves to be run though, no reason not to let her eat!
