    Towing experts...?....

I have a 2002 tahoe that squats pretty good when I have a heavier load. I am towing heavier loads more often. What are some suggestions on accessories I should install to help (ride height, better performance, safety)for winter driving just a couple months away here?

At that age you might want to verify that the suspension is still in good shape. Springs wear out.

Aren't there "load leveler" shocks? Not sure if they're legit. Sounds like this may be more a case of the trailers you're pulling. I had a 2011 for six years and that was a great car and tow vehicle.

Air bags should work but you need to verify the health of your current suspension.

You might want to check the tongue weight of the items you're towing, I believe it should be approximately 10% of the total weight for a 2 wheel trailer.

I have a 02 Suburban with the factory load leveler shocks and never any squat issues. Tow a 24' cuddy cruiser and heavily loaded enclosed utility. You may be able to use these or the air shocks are also good. But, as stated, verify the condition of the rest of the suspension first.

I used to tow with a '97 Tahoe for the boat and a utility trailer for the quads or camping gear and I installed Air Shocks on it. Add air when towing and lower air when not. Very easy, and relatively inexpensive. The Navigator I have now has automatic load leveling air bags, SWEET !!

I install air bags in all my trucks just because I don't like a crappy ride when I am empty that heavier springs give you. When I am towing it is usually heavy [unless it is the boat] so I have to have something adjustable. My trailer range from 450lbs to 1800lbs of tong weight depending on load. Air lift has been all I use. The 5000 on the 3/4 and 1 tons and the 1000 on the 1/2 tons. CJ

Air bags can help for leveling really heavy loads but I’m in the camp of ensuring the stock equipment is in good shape first.
