    '08 Nitro Z-9 Refurb.

I bought this boat 2 years ago and began having issues. It started with voltage drop when starting the motor. All my electronics would shut down. I already knew what the bilge looked like and was always bothered by it, so I began what would be one of the most difficult and time consuming things I have done in a while! I labeled, removed, cleaned, painted and reinstalled everything in the bilge. In the process I rewired and upgraded so many things I lost track. But it turned out beautiful.

    The main bilge area

More pics to follow shortly of the Port and Starboard side of the bilge.

    Here's the Port side:

Look at all the extra trolling motor wires!

Very nice work. It looks like the zip-ties are pulled tight. You may want to consider leaving a little wiggle room next time. It allows you to easily run new wire without having to cut and re-tie the bundle

Thanks guys! One thing I realized was that the factory leaves a lot of extra wiring in the harness. I can understand why, but shortening all the wires made everything run a lot better. Plus, adding in all the safety features (cut-off switch, circuit breakers, getting all the wiring up out of the bilge area) made things a lot safer and more functional. Gonna hate it the first time it get dirty again!

What kind of paint did you use?Been thinking of doing this to my old boat since i
need new pumps and stuff.Plus mine was factory black and it sucks trying to
    see anything in it.

Hulapor- the paint is called bilgekote by interlux. I used a 1 quart can for the entire bilge including the two rear side storage compartments. It goes on thick and spreads nicely. It takes a while to dry so try for an even coat. But once it’s dry it’s very durable. Hope that helps. Good luck with yours!
