    Question Whats the gizmo called.....

What's the part called that locks the seat post to the floor of the boat? The ring at the bottom of the rear seat pedestal hole broke yesterday and fell out. Now the seat doesn't lock into the hole. Do I need to replace the whole unit or can I just buy the bottom ring? And exactly what is it called? Damned if I can find the exact name or part number.

Afraid you will have to replace the entire"Pedestal Seat Base". I have a BPS 2018 catalog handy and they are shown on p. 436 & 437. You will save to cut a U in the carpet, remove and replace base and then reglue carpet.

I’m pretty sure you can replace the plastic piece you are referring to. A quick google search turned this up,

Also, per that link, there is a maintenance thread on this in the stickies too.

Hope it helps. I personally have never had to replace one (now mine will tear up next week).

    Good Luck!

This is the part that broke off mine. 20190722_110338.jpg20190722_110417.jpg20190722_110325.jpgWhat you need is a Springfield Marine Company 2100040 springlock base repair kit. You will receive the plastic insert and a wooden driver type tool and glue for you to hammer it in once you remove the old insert. No need to cut carpet or anything drastic like that. About 40 bucks shipped.

Depending on the year model of your boat, there are two different kits. FYI
