    Question Vanguard VTC bond fund

I’m a NB at stocks and was considering purchasing about 60 shares of Vanguards VTC bonds.
I noticed on the gains potion of the website information it shows a Fiscal year end of 08/31/2019.
Should I hold off till after this date to buy?
to spread out purchases I am planning 2 more purchases of 100 in September and 100 in October also.

    Realized/unrealized gains
    as of 07/31/2019
    Realized capital gain/loss -$0.03
    Realized capital gain/loss as a % of NAV -0.03%
    Fiscal year end 08/31/2019
    Unrealized appreciation/depreciation $2.75
    Unrealized appreciation/depreciation as a % of NAV 3.17%

Biggest thing I look at with bond funds is the Average Duration. This will give you a good idea of how much the net asset value will fall if interest rates rise 1%. This can help tell you if the yield you are getting paid is worth the risk. That is what I usually look at but others may have other factors. Rates probably are not going up anytime soon but just about anything can happen.
