So on Monday 9/16/19, I took a trip to Flippin Ar. Always wanted to take the tour of Ranger Boats. When I was there I found out they had a service department. So security escorted me to the SD. There I met Joey, head of the department. I told him what was going on. He said can you leave the boat with him. I told him that I drove 10 hrs down from Michigan on Sunday just to take the tour and that after the tour I was heading back to Valdosta Ga. He said to unhook the trailer and he would put somebody right on it. 2 hours later, after the tour I went back to the SD. The guy working on my boat had already installed 2 other trim gauges and they didn't work. The 3rd trim gauge/speedometer was for another boat. Then the parts guy brought out the right one. This one seemed to work for them. They told me I was fixed. They also fixed the rubber mat on the console lid that goes between the seats. It had a big bubble in it when the sun heated it up. So in 3 hrs time I was on the road to Ga. Best pit crew ever. But yesterday I finally got out on the water and the trim gauge is still not working. I have 2 calls into Ranger Boats service department. Waiting on a return phone call. Rumor is even the pro's are having the same problems. Hopefully my dealer, Roland Martin's Marine Center can get some answers from Ranger for a fix. It's only been since January I've been trying to get this fixed. Ranger told me no other problems but me, lol.

I think it's working, lol. Just now starting to use it. It will go from 0.0 up to 2.8 Max. 2.6 to 2.7 seems to be the sweet spot. I'll be out this Sunday with the owners manual out. Since the other one doesn't work, time to start using this one.

Took the lid off, Removed the rubber, sanded out the old glue, re-glued a new rubber mat with X-tra glue. Looks great

I am not sure if there is a way to adjust this but here are how my two gauges read. At full trim 8.8 - 9.0 equals 3/4 on the gauge. E801944D-7F4F-46BA-985E-5D48DFF89879.jpeg9982C708-9884-4CA6-9428-DACBAFBADA96.jpeg

So, on a MercMonitor, all the way down should be 0 and full trim (at the trim limit, not into the tilt range), should be 10.0. Then when you tilt, it will go all the way to 25.

There is a trim calibration procedure in the MercMonitor (check the owners manual), it calibrates the Gauge so that 0 = full down, 10 = Full Trim, and 25 = Full Tilt.
The procedure goes something like this:
Turn on the key, put the Monitor in Cal Mode for Trim
Trim the motor fully in (down), hit a button
Trim the motor to full trim, hit a button
Tilt the motor as high as you want for max, hit a button.

I usually did this with the engine running, and find the full trim by going above the RPM's so the trim is limited, to find the Full Trim position.

See Page 97 of the MercMonitor Manual here --> https://samerwebapp01apncus01.azuree...ers_manual.pdf

Mike, Mine works on the trailer or just floating in the water. It's when I'm running is the problem.

Thanks Michael, My Mercury Smart Gauge is working fine. It's the trim gauge under the speedometer that isn't working properly. The Mercury Smart Gauge is digital, the Ranger gauge is analog. I was told that the motor should tell each gauge what to do. Right now I am using the smart gauge and it is working fine. At 68 mph , jackplate at 12 out of 20 setting which is 3 inches raised, the smart gauge reads 2.8 to 2.7, trimmed out just right. The Ranger gauge doesn't even hit the 1/2 way point.

Mine is consistent in its readings as far as I can tell for floating or running. Setting the trim to below 3.0 is less than a hitting the quarter mark on the Ranger gauge but matches how the settings would be while sitting on the trailer. I wonder if in the adjustment part from the 0-10 you could make the quavers show a larger move ?

I have a digital gauge for my jackplate but not my trim, and my trim gauge (analog) is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY off and WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY behind.

I spoke with my Dealer on Sat in Fl. They told me Mercury will never have a fix for the trim gauge below the speedometer. I now have to use the smart-craft gauge. SMDH.

My new 518 L is in for some warranty work with one issue being the trim gauge under the speedo. The tech said that as long as the Smartgauge is connected it is impossible to get both the analog and the electronic Smartgauge to be caliberated. I have been using the Smartgauge trim with tach but I can’t seem to get tach and trim gauge to display in the full character size.

I gave up. My dealer said no fix. Smartgauge for the trim now. Just wondering what size prop you are running. I have a 22 Tempest plus. Met a guy on the lake with the same boat and year. He had a 23 P Fury. He can run around 70 mph. My fastest was 68 mph. Last Sunday 67.5, most of the time around 65-66 mph. Never hit 6000 rpm's.
