    2019 z20 speed issue update.

The motor was installed too high on the jackplate. The dealership lowered it and put the original prop back on it. No load and very little gas, I couldn't drive it over 78mph, by myself. It got out of control. So I will be able to put all of my equipment, and should have great speed. Thanks for all of the input on the previous thread.

That was nothing in the boat. Very low gas , and by myself. It was a wild ride for a little bit. Then my nads shrunk and I got out of it. LOL

Didn't know a Nitro would even run 78. Even if it was empty. That is real good.

Make sure you have proper tire inflation if your going to tow your boat at speeds above 75 mph.

Your story was fairly believable until I read this! "Nobody" is going out on Grand Lake without any fishing tackle... Geezzz.....

What is your PTP? Other than my manual jackplate and yours being hydraulic, our setups are identical. I have a hard time believing you are 10mph faster than mine from a jackplate adjustment. I have moved my motor up and down the jackplate multiple times and still the best I’ve seen was about 70 gps with perfect conditions. Maybe I’m missing something with my setup, i would really love to see mid 70s.

78 mph with a Fury 3 23P, would require 6600 rpms, assuming 5% prop slip. And assuming 6200 rpms, 78 mph, with 23P Fury, would have a -1% prop slip. More realistic way to hit 78 mph, assuming 5% prop slip, would require 6069 rpms with 25 P prop.

My z21 is not slipping 5%. More like 3%. Is he running a 23p? Do we even know if that speed is reported from a GPS?

No BMCD, just throwing some hypotheticals out there. I have seen the Merc tech group use an average 5% slip as normal.

Maybe he was looking at the water temp reading instead of speed?
