Hello, I just bought a ‘99 186. It has the pedestal seats in the front and back, I’m pretty sure they are the original. I can’t figure out how to remove them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do they have a little button on the side down low? Mine do. Mine (2000) are a bit snug too.
I can’t figure out how to upload pics on here. But yes the back seat has a button down low it’s pushed in and won’t move. The front seat has the same hole but no button in it. They are swivel-eze seats if that helps.

That looks stuck pretty damn good. I'd squirt a little penetrating oil around the base, then the next day, wrap the pedestal with 3-4 rounds of duct tape and use a pipe wrench to try to turn it. I'd have a buddy handy to lift while you're turning.

Mine got stuck so bad i had to ziptie the button down and then take two floor jack with some 2x4's and pop them out of the holes
After breaking the retaining clip on the gas strut, I would not use a jack. If you can get it turning, it will come out. Just try to keep the penetrating oil cnfined to the pedestal and socket. Let it soak.

2x4 and pry bar. Just had this happen. Had to use grinder to get back one out.
Like Tx says- WD and twist. Mine always take some effort to get out.
I sanded the paint off the bottom of the pedestals and mine no longer stick.

I had this same problem with my last 2 boats. And with my Champ as well. Once you get them out .... I have a fix which has now worked like a dream!!!! I purchased the same version with the push button. I popped the button in so I can work on the lower pedestal. I measured the depth of the hole, and went up the same distance from bottom of pedestal and Drew a line....I taped off everything above that line. I then sanded with 80 grit sand paper. I kept doing it until the pedestal slid easier. I then used 100 paper then 120 to smooth it out. I then use Dry Lubricant in my pedestal hole and on lower pedestal. Every time I remove it, I respray the dry Lubricant. And bingo, no problem in past year!
By the way....I used a strap wrench to get mine out:-(

Out of all the times mine have been stuck, I've been able to use a strap wrench on all but one time. Then, I had to resort to the pipe wrench
I've posted this a ton of times. Do not use a pipe wrench. Go to a tool store or an auto body store and find a stick on grinding disk like this - https://www.rshughes.com/p/3M-Stikit...g!327266222619!
Then borrow or buy a large handle strap wrench like this....

Stick the pad low on the post and the strap from the wrench will grip like it was welded on. Just twist and keep twisting. It WILL come out.
No I did not come up with this. I had the same problem and couldn't budge them and I tried everything. Took Cyclone70 fishing one day and when I picked him up he had the pedestal out before we left the parking lot.
After all I tried and he did it just as described above in two minutes. The right tools for the job and it will go smooth.
