    Helix 7 help

I have a helix seven in the console of my triton TR186. I believe it is Jen too, not the mega down. It does however have the down imaging and side imaging. After I installed it, after about 20 miles an hour I would always lose my depth reading. So I bought the Y cable, and ran a transducer and epoxied it into the hull of my boat. I did not make any changes to the unit because Hummingbird told me I would not need to. Now I get depth readings at all speeds, but when I use my down imaging it shows but if I adjust contrast or sensitivity it’s like it does nothing. The regular sonar and depth reading works great from the hull, but the DI Seems to be not reacting to any settings after I installed the Y cable. Is there something in the settings I need to do? Thank you

The Y cable only splits off the 2D piezo and connects the added 2D transducer in its place.

Check the connections to the Y cable, the transducer plugs should snap/lock place and be very difficult to separate.

Also just connect the SI transducer to the unit and see how it performs. It may indicate a faulty Y cable or connection if there is an inprovement.

The Helix 7 SI unit does not have Down Imaging, it has composite DI views created by blending the two SI pulses. Your DI won't be any different than SI since its the same data.
