    Battery voltage question

    Have a northstar 31

i tested with volt meter with everything off and get 13 volts

here are the things connected to it

    two talons
    three helix 10’s
    360 hbird
    pumps
    engine

Console unit reporting 12.1 volts . bow units are reporting 11 volts and the and the unit with the 360 at the bow turns off on its own after some use.

I have 10 gauge wire to run to the front bow units.

Do do you think that will fix the problem?

With everything on should the bow units report the same volts from what is checked at the battery terminals with the volt meter?

    Any other thoughts ?

    thanks!

You are confusing me using the term amps and saying you used an amp meter. Nothing you are doing involves amps or an amp meter.

I think you mean volts everywhere you say amps. The bow units will always see less voltage than you do at the battery. This is because of the resistance of the wire and the current being drawn by the units. Going to larger wire will definitely help with the voltage drop issue. Just be sure to include a fuse at the battery and then the factory fuses for the power wires for each unit.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

You should also check all connections to make sure everything is snug and there is no corrosion.

Be sure to turn on one of the units and check the voltage at the battery. It wont be at the maximum you saw before but it will show the true voltage drop between the battery and the unit.(also will show if the battery is weak or not).

You should also run a new ground the same size as your new power wire,it takes a good ground to complete a circuit.
