2008 Mercury Optimax 115 Trim Motor Leak

    1F89050B-9390-4760-AD3A-AEB5D5E9D9EF.jpeg

Just replaced the trim motor...I’ve got air/oil leaking out of the plug when the skeg is on the ground.

I did realize I did not put the motor up on the lock lever when I refilled the trim motor.

Would not having the motor on the lock lever cause the oil level to read incorrect? Then when I filled it...was that actually over filling it?

Also...I broke a bolt on the trim motor...I have 3 bolts on it...it’s definitely tight but I added silicone to the corner with the broken bolt.

Would anyone be concerned with this?

Yes, Perhaps, and Absolutely (has 4 bolts retaining it intentionally).

Check fluid level CORRECTLY, and make sure the o-ring seal is in good condition.
