I have a 94 Stratos 201 DC and am putting a newly rebuilt
2001 Merc 250 ProXB on it. Motor has fat prop shaft. Any suggestions on a good starting point for a prop?

Thanks 21XDC
Mercury props are made of a much stronger tinsel strength of metal. They don't bend, they crack, break and then sling the blade. That's why you don't hear about them bending they break. BRP props are made of a softer tinsel strength, they bend. That's why you don't hear about then breaking and slinging a blade because they bend... choose which is the less of two evils and buy what you want.
The soft metal props not only sling blades, They rip part of the barrel off with them..

Typically BRP props fold up and bend. I suppose there has been a time or times where someone slung a blade but nowhere near as many times as Mercury props...I guarantee you know 10X more than I do about props and I am positive you know Mercury has the reputation for breaking and BRP for bending. Again pick your poison and chose the lesser of two evils. Both make good props but both have flaws that are typical with them due to hard and soft tensile strength. It's going to be hard to convenience me otherwise because there is to much data out there to support my theory...we can start here on BBC and use the search function and search for props that slings blades and see what has the most hits. Then we can search BBC for props that bend and see what has the most hits.
Thousand % more Merc props in the water, Means more posts about this. Does not have any bearing on the post. Merc dominates the Prop game. Many other brand motors use Merc props, They don't choose Bomb props.

Everything in that statement is very accurate but it still does not change the fact that the tinsel strength on Mercury props is hard therefore it is more prone to break than bend...its been an interesting discussion and I just want to say I have no ill will towards you and I highly respect your opinion but I have to ask you something...In your opinion when a light to moderate impact is involved does Mercury props typically bend or break...and why to your answer?
Merc props bend as well.. Plus the delrin drive sleve takes some of the energy. Mark fixes many bent Merc props every day. Running a 150 HP may not matter much, But higher HP with raised motor heights needs a stronger prop to handle the speed, torque and HP w/o bending/flexing.

Too little pitch?
Yes and not as good in many ways as the prop I suggested.
