    Hummingbirds

I have a 999hd but looking at a garmin 93sv . Has any body had both and tell me which one you would buy. I like the touch screen on the garmin. I think the garmin screen looks clearer.

That 999 is "old tech" so to speak..........

I just got rid of a 999. I have two 93 SV +'s as well as a 126 SV Ultra. I'm going Garmin all the way. The 999 was good, but you'd be going backwards in terms of tech.

That Garmin is also 10x better in the sun than the humminbird I got a 998 and in bright sunlight i damn near need a blanket to get under so I can see it. I just installed a chirp 93sv at my console.

I ran one for 4 years on my buddy ranger and the 93 is a lot better at detailing and Iam on the same lake and see stuff we never saw on the birds. The birds were good but so are the garmins.

You can’t really compare a very old unit to a newish one.

I have 959/999 and a gpsmap 9 I would call the gpsmap9 a touch better. but not sure I wouldn't say a 93sv is better than 999. One thing for sure is the 999 series is dependable durable and a workhorse

I had 3 x 93sv+ units on my last boat. (One with Livescope) My new boat came with a Helix 12 mega and a Helix 9 MEGA. I regret buying the boat with the bird units on it.
    I'm ordering a 126 ultra and a 106 ultra as we speak!

Garmins r WAY more user friendly, and u have Di si traditional and maps all on 1 unit. The Ultra units are comparable to MEGA imaging. It's an easy choice (4 me) if ur in a position to choose.
I cant wait to get rid of these Helix units n get the Echomap Ultra units.

I run both Humminbird Solix 15 (Console) & 12 (Bow) and Garmin 7610XSV Bow. Garmin's Panoptix / Livescope smoke 360 so no comparison on that front. Garmin 2d sonar is far superior. Mapping advantage I would give to Humminbird. When a fisherman is in exploratory mode and graphing new waters / creating waypoints I prefer Humminbirds, however when actually fishing give me Garmin. You can't go wrong with a Garmin.
