    Jack Plate Install

I am going to purchase a new to me 2004 ranger 519VX that does not have a jack plate. It has Seastar hydraulic steering and a hot foot.
I think I would like to do a 8" but 6" is possible too.
Will I need to replace any steering hoses or control cables?

You should be alright with the shifter and throttle cable with a 6" plate. Steering hoses should have plenty of slack too.

Most likely what you have will work but the only way to know for sure is try it.

I bet you will be ok, especially with a six inch plate. Enjoy your new rig.

Experience with those boats they have the built in setback already. 6" is what you need.

I think you lose your life time hull warranty with anything over 6" too on that year boat.
