Shorting The Butt End of a Rod?

I know someone has done this; any regrets afterward?
I have a Kistler 7'-3" heavy mod/fast Frog rod with a 15 3/4" butt end. ( by Tackle Warehouse standard).
From the butt end to the top of the foregrip.
I've used this rod for pitching mostly.
I only throw buzz frogs; and I wanted to maybe use this for buzz frogs and spinnerbaits.
I felt shorting the butt end would make it a lot easier roll casting; especially tight quarters.
If I can find someone to do the work.
    Bad idea or not?

I did this with a Orochi XX spinnerbait rod. Big mistake. The balance is all off. I rarely use it now.

I had to do it to a Hammer rod that I got at The Tackle Trap. I loved the rod as I like a 7ft rod overall, and this was a 7'3. The extra 3 inches was in the butt section. The problem is that the 3 inches caused the rod to hit me in the side while using it. So, I measured the rod next to my Dobyns Champ 704, and everything was in line from the reel seat nut and on forward. I took a saw and cut 3 inches off the butt end. Now, the rod is perfect, to me at least. Your outcomes may vary based on how the rod was balanced out before, and what you are using the rod for.
