I think?? this allows the GT54UHD transducer to be used on non-UHD unit. It is a 12 pin transducer that has 2d, ClearVu and SideVu. In a UHD unit the UHD frequency is available to be selected. On a non-UHD unit the transducer could still be used but not on the UHD frequency. 455 and 800 could be used. I'm speculating. I'll check it out.

Yes, it allows you to use a GT54 on a non-UHD unit (no UHD frequencies), like the 7600 series. This scenario would be most common for folks upgrading to the Force TM (with built-in GT54) but without UHD-capable units.
