I have a 06 188 Elite with the 200 Merc. Absolutely love it. White with maroon arrow and cap inlay, get lots of compliments at the ramp. Maybe not the fastest boat ever, but rock solid, and very stable to fish out of. Going to replace the stock single axle trailer with a double axle one of these days.

Thank you for any and all info anyone can provide
I think you will be more satisfied with the 188 with a 200. The largest motor that came with the 183 was a 175.

    I agree, go with a 188 and a 200.

I now own this boat and absolutely love it. It will get up and go pretty good.

The 196 came out in 2001 and had a 93" beam. I believe that was the first beam forward hull. Bad thing was it was rated for 200 HP and really needed a 225 rating, it gave "birth" to the 198.

The 188 is definitely on the short list when the time comes. What I'm see now is both are hard to find for sale.

The 183 had 2 models....the CX series was 175 rated and the Elite version was 200 rated. Same exact boat, but the Elite had more standard features while the CX was more economical.
Finding a 183 elite with a 200 on the back would be special. Most 183's I spot for sale have 150's.

From memory the 07-10 183 elites were rated at 175, and the 183cx of the same era was a 150 rating, the 188cx was rated at 200. This is what I've been reading from everything I can find online.

    This is correct, Mike.
