Prop performance on a 225 Mercury Optimax

I’m running a 25p tempest plus and only getting 5200 rpm’s out of it...
anyone running a 24p tempest plus on their Opti? Was curious to see what kind of rpm’s people are getting out of a 24p. Thanks

I currently run a 19p High5 on my 225 Opti and it’ll turn 6000 rpm. Max rpm for our motors is 5750. I think a 23p 3 or 4 blade might be the sweet spot. I guess all depends on your setup though.

What boat are you running it on and is the motor a regular 225 or a pro xs? When it's hot you can loose rpm's and speed. The 24" tempest would gain you 200 rpm's but not any speed.

Apparently it is not running right yet as you stated in your other post. If it is a 519 ranger this time of year under about 700 ft elevation with a normal load I would expect about 55 to 5600 and maybe 67-68 mph with a 225 optimax running correctly with a 25 tempest, two holes open and one large PVS plug, without poles of course
    Thank You Leon Pugh

I am not certain of any performance output difference between the Opti and the proxs but I am getting 5800 plus for 68-69 in the summer with a bit more to go. 12 Z519, 25 Tempest.

A regular opti max only turns 5750 rpm's and a pro xs turns 6000.

if you go to a 24 you will loose mph but just by 2 tenths 62.55 to 62.32 for the 24p rpm will rise to 5400

Unless you have specifics on your rig set up like what JP? P2P? load balance? when prop worked and by whom(Croxton)? when engine tuned, compression Ck, and injector cleaned by EuropeanAM?
it would be like saying I have a 383 SB running 4.10, and does anyone know how it would be running 3.73 in 1/4 mi?
