    R&r seat base conversion

I was able to install 7x7 seat bases right over the dreaded r&r design bases. Installed a drain hose for the front deck seat base, the rear didn't need one as it drains into the livewell. I drilled holes into original base, threaded them, and installed ss heli coils. Secured with 5/16-18 machine screws stainless. Blue loctite. The 2 middle holes I used the original bolts to hold the new base to the r&r, and all that is secured onto the deck via r&r original rectangular brace

The rear one drains into the live well? I would not want that.

That's the way it is on a 191, with the rear base directly over the live well so that it if were rained into, or anything small fell into it, it's going to end up in the LW. I would suspect many if not all of at least the Mt. Home boats have this design.

In the process of new carpet and seats on my 95 181 elite, the rear one on mile also has no drain tube, just mounted over livewell.

Truthfully, I have no idea where my rear base drains into. Just seemed odd to me to allow "strange" water into live wells.

Unfortunately, it does. So best practice is to leave a pedestal plugged in the hole.

Thanks Reggie! Easily done, since I no longer go alone. Gotta have seat for co-angler! I have 2 seats and 2 butt seats, so we can switch out.
