    360 Heading Sensor location - Nitro Z20??

I have reached the point where I am ready to mount the GPS puck on my 2019 Nitro Z20. I was wondering if anyone out there who has a similar set-up can chime in on where they have "successfully" mounted theirs?

I have used a compass to check for interference and to be honest I have some much metal racking in my garage I am not getting a spot that I am completely free from ferrous metal interference. I just need to pull it out of the garage and quickly check, but also looking for input from others before I drill a 3/4" hole anywhere on the boat .....

    Thanks in advance...

It's more than just checking like you have, you need to include running the trolling motor and outboard.

Mine is also, but it is affected by the motor when stowed and also if I let the steering cable/power wire get close to the antenna when the motor is deployed and being used.

Thank you Wayne, I have decided to mount it on the carpet just behind the bow plate, right side of the bow deck..

I should avoid any interference from the trolling motor, and its cables...

IF that location is does not affect the compass, that is as good of a place as any. You have to prove that is a good location via testing.

Assuming this is a Bow 360, wouldn't you want the heading sensor at the front of the boat near your HB sonar(s) because it's also a GPS puck?

Yes with a Helix or number series unit.
But you cannot assume any particular spot is OK.

I have a 2016 Z20 with a Verado. I bought it rigged with Lowrance. The Point 1 heading sensor is mounted where the fuel fill would normally be. I am planning to put MK my heading sensor there.

When you get your Mega 360, I'd be curious to know if it can use the Ultrex heading sensor. As far as I know, the current 360 needs the AS GPS HS puck to see waypoints on the 360 view.

Yes you do have to use a heading sensor to display waypoints on the 360 view.

Should not be any different than the current 360. Can use the Minnkota Heading sensor or the AS GPS HS antenna IF the Ultrex is the LINK model.

May can use the Point1 also, don't have all that mess to try.

You can use the Ultrex heading sensor to have waypoints show up on a 360 view? I guess I need to check that again. I was under the impression that you could only see the waypoints on a 360 view if the heading sensor came from the AS GPS HS.

My heading sensors are mounted like this on my current boat, and had them the same on my last boat. Haven't had any issues on either one.

I did that today to get you a screen shot. Unplugged the AS GPS HS (can see it is not selectable).
HR57 waypoint displayed on the 360 view.

Well I got everything hooked up and the 360 ran like a champ! All I had to do was increase the sensitivity a few notches and adjust the range. Could not be happier.

The 360 heading sensor was mounted at the front right of the front deck and appears to work perfectly.

The only thing I did not notice were any waypoints showing up on the 360 view. Is there something I have missed? BTW, my ultrex doe "not" have link...

They will not show automatically, you have to turn on 360 Navigation or Navigation on 360, depends on the unit.
