    New lower unit

Just got my brand new lower unit installed on my 07 200 optipop. Removed the top plug and no oil, removed the lower plug and oil came out(motor trimmed down). My question is should i top it off with quicksilver high performance before i run it or assume Mercury has it were its supposed to be? Planned on breaking it in then changing the oil around 10hrs or so.

I would no assume it had any oil in it when it was shipped. If you had it installed at a dealer then they should have filled it. A phone call could answer that.

I installed it myself, just haven't had a chance to run it yet, I was thinking it might ship dry thats why i checked, just curious if there was any special break in additives i may dilute by adding more oil.

I would not assume anything and drain it and fill to the proper level. You don't state which lower unit you have. You may or may not need to drain an ounce or two out after filling to the top. Check the sticky for your particular lower unit.

Im not really certain as to which lower it is to be honest, the marina ran the serial number on my motor and ordered the new one for me based on that.

If you post the lower unit part number, someone here can figure out what you have. If you post your engine serial number, someone can figure out what your motor came with for a lower unit.

Id completely forgotten about the full minus a couple ounces when changing the oil. I put a couple pumps of oil in and it came out the top hole. It was full.

Engine came with a Verado-Style gearcase (from the Factory). What PART NUMBER was installed?

    + Gear HSG comp/lg black 1.75:1
Heading to the marina now to get a receipt because apparently my buddy forgot to get it when he picked it up for me while i was out of town.

That's an early-style (Standard/Servicemaster) Gearcase, much "cheaper" and not really as durable. That would have been Part# 859399T13

While it will "work", there is a slight offset in the shift linkage that does make a difference (approximately 4 degrees difference).
