Boat US Dragging Out Claim

Have a claim that started 12 Jan for trailer and gel coat repairs. Axle replacement took almost 5 months for the parts and replacement. Struggled to find a gel coat repair shop but found two, both about 1 1/2 hours away. Boat US paid me 1100 for trailer and 750 for gel coat. I told them that wouldn’t be enough. They said it was based on a local adjuster who never looked at the boat. Anyway one shop quoted $8K, the other I don’t know because he said he call and work it out with Boat US. Quotes started in last week of August and 2 July from the two bass boat gel repair shops. I had a local fiberglass repair place speak to the insurance company indicating no local repair places that repair/match gel coat while the axle was in the shop. I was told to tell the repair place to begin work, I find out today Boat US called them and said don’t do any repairs. Today Boat US denied telling me to start repairs and also denied speaking to the repair shop. The repair shop said they were told directly to not do any work until directed to. Boat US told me they don’t talk to the repair shop at all.

So how do I get some kind of progress? Also I recorded the conversation because they keep changing directions.

Not sure, Does LA have a Insurance commissioner. If so put a complaint in. Action will happen.

In NC you have the right to pick the shop to have the repairs. The carrier also has the right to work out the cost with the repair shop.

Yeah they let me pic but nobody close can match ranger gel colors. I’ll check on the commissioning part.

I had to raise hell with them to get action went up the food chain to a VP.

Your in Louisiana. Take it to Toledo Fibreglass in Many. Guarantee they can fix it.

I agree with John about Toledo fiberglass. While it’s there get a gorilla hull!
