    Best reel for drop shot

Just now getting into drop shotting and need input as what reels you guys like. I know, I know ford vs chevy but I have to get a starting point. At this point I'm leaning toward Shimano 2500 stradic or lew's custom. Thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Chris

Give the Daiwa Ballistic LT a look. I prefer it over the Shimano Stradic myself.

Price point? I started with a Pfleuger Supreme 3000 size $100, good reel for the money. Started wanting more (just cause I’m picky)and bought a Daiwa Ballistic LT 3000 $229. You can probably get by with the 2500 size Daiwa, they just seem a little bigger. Very nice reel, the Tatula is also a good option just a little cheaper.

Just bought a Stradic CI4+ 1000hg for that very purpose. And let me tell you, that reel is a joy to fish.

    I use a newer model CI4+ 3000. Love it!
My spinning reels consist of 2 Stradic 3000 CI4+'s, and a few new model Pflueger Patriarch XT's. Both are sweeeeeeet reels!

Just set something with a good solid drag. It will help a lot with light line and moving fish up slowly from deeper water.

If you don't want to spend Ballistic LT money, take a look at the Tatula LT. They are really nice reels. The 2000D-XH has been a popular choice for guys running a braid to FC leader on their drop shot set ups unless you need double the drag power, then step up to the 2500D-XH.

If youre not looking to spend a lot I like the Shimano NASCI. I prefer 3000 size if you dont mind a tad more weight.

I responded to your post on the other board, but I'll put in a vote for the Daiwa BG in 2500 size. I have a Tatula LT 2500 and honestly believe the only way it's "better" than my BGs is that it's lighter. I think the BG feels smoother and has a better drag. The fact that the BGs cost basically half as much doesn't hurt either!

I use a 2500 Stradic ci4+, it's been perfect. I'm sure the Daiwa equivalent would be a good option too.

Save some money and purchase a Pfleuger President. Only $50 and performs just as well as the more expensive spinning reels.

This is what I used to think. Until I upgraded to the Shimano Ci4. The difference is night and day.

Since your just getting started on the drop shot that Pfleuger President would be a good reel to start with, you can always upgrade. See how you like drop shooting first.
