Chester County Bass Masters held their 4th of five opens for the 2019 season on August 10th out of Anchor Marine in Northeast Maryland.

39 Teams showed up on a beautiful summer Saturday in search of a 5 fish limit of Upper Bay black bass.

A couple storms rolled thru Thursday adding some color to the water in the Northeast, but most of the Upper Bay / Flats was normal water.
Air temps at launch were around 62 with very little breeze. The tournament launched at 6:00 under sunny skies with a forecast high of 84.

Water temps were in the 80 - 82 degree range depending on where you fished.
Launch was on a rising tide with high around 7:30 am. at Charlestown.

9 five fish limits were brought in with 6 other teams having 4 fish.
10 double digit weights were brought to the scales.
4 bass over 4 pounds were weighed in.
2 bass over 5 pounds were weighed in.

8 cash places were paid, along with 17 sponsor prizes from Susquehanna Tackle, Rhino Linings of Delaware, Dobyns Rods, Cal Coast Clip n Cull, Bass Cat, River Bottom Reels, Zee Bait Company, Steak & Main Restaurant , BUFF USA, Hi Seas fishing line, Nichols Lures, Batteries+ Store , Gruv Fishing Boxes, Native Tungsten Weights, Venom Lures, Hayabusa Hooks, Cabelas and GRT Jigs.

15 boats participated in $ 60 option pot which paid 2 spots.

$ 4,100 in cash was paid along with $ 1150 in sponsor prizes.

First place cash payout and championship plaques went to Chet Berkey and Chris Patton. The pair found the right bites to bring in a big bag just shy of 19 pounds.
Their 5 fish limit of 18.88 pounds took home the top cash spot.

Second place cash went to the team of Donnie Tomlin and Dominic Smone. The team put together an outstanding 5 fish limit on a tough summer day weighing in at 17.08 Lbs.
Included in that superb bag was the CCBM 5th Lunker, a 4.21 fat girl that earned them a $ 50 card from Batteries + store in Springfield, Pa.

The Team also took home additional $$$ by entering the $ 60 Option Pot and taking 2nd place cash there.

Third place money was won by the team of Bart Hollis and Will Hollis who brought a 5 fish limit to the scales that topped out at 15.05 Lbs.
That's two top 3 finishes in our last 2 CCBM Opens as they won the July TX.
The team had the 3rd Lunker of 4.61 lbs. which won them a set of Cal Coast Clip n Culls 2.0, non puncturing cull tags.

Fourth place dough was earned by the team of Pablo Velazquez and Mike Phillips who weighed in a 5 fish limit for 13.59 Lbs with their big bass going 3.04 pounds. Another strong finish for the team.

Fifth place cash went to the team of Mike Aiello and Curt Dewolf who weighed in a 5 fish limit of 13.39 Lbs.

Sixth place coin was collected by the team of Adrian Avena and Adam Satanoff who brought 5 fish to the scales for 13.08 Lbs. with a big bass of 4.11 Lbs.

Seventh place money was snagged by the team of Dave McCulloch and Reese Hudson with 4 fish weighing 12.92 Lbs. A nice weight for not having a limit on a day when a lot of teams struggled.
Included in that bag was the CCBM Tournament Lunker, a 5.40 fat girl that was worth an additional $ 370 in lunker payout.

Eighth place and the last cash spot was collected by the team of Alex Niezgooda and Shane Muller with a 5 bass limit for 12.78 pounds and a big fish of 2.87 Lbs.


9th thru 18th spots won gift cards from Zee Bait Company, River Bottom Reels ,Steak & Main restaurant of North East, Gruv Fishing, BUFF USA, Venom Lures, Native Tungsten, Nichols Lures, GRT Jigs and Hi Seas Line.

First team to finish just out of the money was awarded a $ 75.00 gift card from Zee Bait Company a local plastic manufacturer from Chester Springs, Pa.
Ninth position and the Zee Bait card was collected by Steve Jago who brought 5 fish to the scales for 12.35 Lbs. with a big fish of 3.49 lbs.
