    NMEA question with images

My Garmin internal GPS is doing great but my Point 1 is "SHOWING" picking up only 1 satellite..I know this is wrong.

Question: is there a setting or settings under NMEA 2000 that I am missing..? Also, why is the Garmin Accuracy always 9.84'?

Jeremy, I know you are also running a Point 1..Any suggestion?

Yes, still using the Point 1.....i have not noticed/paid attention to the satellites that its picking up.....My first thought is the unit is using the built in gps antenna but not sure if that would change if you swapped to the Point 1.....

    Use yes, calibrated no.
The on-screen calibration is brand-specific for Lowrance/ Simrad/ B&G so you have to calibrate it manually. Basicly the same as we all did back in the HDS Gen 1-days since on-screen calibration came later on with HDS Gen 2. It`s a pretty simple proceedure where you disconnect the Point-1, connect it again and do two rounds/ laps with the boat and that`s it. Just as with Garmins headingsensor getting the right rate of turn and speed during the process can be a bit of a hazzle.

It is my understanding that the Steadycast is Heading sensor only. No gps.
I might be wrong. If I am someone will correct me.

Donnie G. Did you ever figure this out? I am having the exact same problem trying to use a point 1.
When I first plug it in all bars are green and looking good. Then after a minute all the bars go clear like in your pic.
I assume the green means it has a lock on the satellites. I have the unit set to get heading from the point 1.
But have not been on the lake to see if it is working. GPS part will not keep a lock on the satellites.
If i look at the home screen at the top right corner I see 1 bar under the signal strength symbol.

The next time out I’m going to mark a way point with the Ultra internal GPS then mark the same spot with the Point 1 & see what the result is. My Point 1 is sitting right above my Garmin transducer. Should be interesting.
