25 fury with 5/16 holes drilled

1998 efi merc 225 with a 25p fury. I bought the boat and it has 5/16 holes drilled a ove the pvs holes. I get blowout and have to back off the throttle then it catches and I'm on plane. I'm heading out tomorrow and found some 5/16 plugs.
My question is, do these small holes make that much if a difference?

Yes... Adjust the PVS holes and leave the small ones alone.

If you have any solid pvs plugs, put one solid in any of the pvs holes and you should come out of the hole great. If you have no solids, then put large-hole pvs plugs in all of the pvs holes.
