    Screw hole repair

The screws are pulled through the gelcoat in my compartment lid behind drivers seat. The only thing pretty much holding it on is the latch. I bought the boat in March with this being like this. What is the best fix for this. The boat is a 21xd.

Mix some epoxy, find an appropriate sized wood dowel and plug the hole. Let it setup, drill and re-afix the screws and hinge... Dan

Might work best if you kin take the compartment off and do the repair and let it set up upsidedown.

You can actually use Marine Tex with and set it in place with the screw to form a threaded hole. All you have to do is coat the screw in WD40. They have instructions for doing this. I did this for one of the screw holes for the hinge for my center seat and it worked really well.

Thanks everybody. I used Marine Tex and let it set up. Marked exactly where hinge holes would be on epoxy and drilled holes and just put new screws in.
