    Question Boat refinish?

I have a 2010 Ranger Z521. I just recently replaced motor, trolling motor, charger, seats, gauges etc.

Love the boat but it really needs to be refinished. The gel is horrible on the top rails and fenders.

Trying to decide if it would be feasible to send the boat to the factory for a full gel coat shoot.

Or someone else who does good work.

There is a couple small places that would need work but nothing bad.

I just want it to look good again.

However, I'm not sure what it would cost to shoot the complete boat with new gel?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Send it to the factory, and do it now. That way you should be good to go by next spring. It takes several months and they always have a long list of boats ahead, but that’s the way to get it really right.

Someone please let me know if these pictures are viewable. Thanks

This boat has been garage kept. It started showing problems very quickly with the gel. Makes me wonder if the mold was contaminated when it was shot. Not sure how well it shows, but the white is bleeding through the stripes bad.

It is a long ride from Illinois to NC, however Crank68 will make that boat look new without any painting.

Have you tried wet sanding the boat and then buffing it?

There is not any gel to wet sand.

I am no gel expert. However, I truly think it was a bad gel shoot at the factory. There had to be something wrong. Like I mentioned, when the boat was two years old it looked like a 40 year old put away wet.

Wow ... that looks like ‘left in the sun year round’ oxidation - I cant believe it’s ever spent a day in the garage. I have a 2011 that’s maybe lived half its life under a Ranger cover outside (the the early years I’m not sure) and it’s in much (!) better shape. (An I’m not saying that too start an argument etc).

May I ask how long you owned this boat ?

    No insult taken.

I bought it in 2012. Since I've owned it it has been garage kept.
