New to me '96 Champ 202

Well I've been looking for a while now for a bass boat. After doing much research I really wanted the '95/96 Champ 202 bu everytime I was ready to purchase nothing was available so i gave up. Well about 3 weeks ago I was going to fly to Michigan to purchase a clean '95 Champ 202 but at the last minute the seller decided to sell the boat to his brothera But I do believe that things happen for a reason......well 2 weeks after the seller changed his mind put a post saying that I was looking for a '95/ '96 Champ 202.....well a guy from Texas set me a message saying that he was thinking about selling his '96 Champ 202. Well I was so excited because I have to admit that I was pretty down after the last person who was trying to sell their boat... One of the major reasons I bought this boat was that the transom was done by a reputable company & the warranty is transferable.

Well I flew down to Texas & rented a U-Haul & drove through New Mexico- Colorado- Utah- Idaho then home to Oregon. Which was all done in 48 hours.

I just want to thank everyone for reaching out & helping me find my boat & answering all my questions. I want to thank 1bluemcm for offering to go test drive the Champ 202 that was located in Michigan for me. I want specially thank Chief206 for selling me his Champ 202.

More pics coming after do a couple of things to it.

Yay! Glad you found one. What a trip for a boat! But I would have done the same. Great story to start off your 202 adventure with.

BTW, I could be wrong, but I suspect the "going to sell to my brother" story was a line of crap. Doesn't matter much now, but I saw a guy from Michigan post up on Facebook about the 95 202 he had just bought, which was, no question, the one you had found on Craigslist and I was going to go look at, and it was shortly after your deal fell through. The guy made no mention about buying from his brother, etc, it sounded just like a dude that had just bought a boat from some other random dude, but who knows. Things do happen for a reason.

Thanks again 1bluemcm, you're correct about things happening for a reason. This boat is in way better condition....tandem axle trailer, 225 Merc, original papers, transom overhaul w/ lifetime transferrable warranty, electronics & the list goes on & on. I really appreciate you agreeing to take time from your family to go check out the boat for me.
