    Spraying Hydrilla on HC

Found out today from Mike that TPWD will be spraying 230 acres of hydrilla. They're spraying only around shallow docks and the swimming area in Game Warden. TPWD says it will not drift and they're not spraying in any areas without docks, all open water hydrilla will remain.

I will be genuinely amazed if it works out that way, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. Keep us posted.

TPWD has changed their position somewhat on hydrilla, they know it's good for the fish and fishing and want to keep most of it in the lake.

Ha, good luck, I got some ocean front property for sale.

They destroy ALL VEGETATION at T Bend ever time they claim they are spraying for only this and that.
However, that is not TPWD, it’s the governing body of the lake and in our case the Sabine River Authority.
    Total idiots for lake management.

Hopefully your lake will have better results.

IF they are spraying Diquat(what they used on Toledo), it will kill everything that is green. It will drift with any current and keep killing.
Say good bye to your Hydrilla.

Seriously though, if TPWD is spraying it, who is paying for it? Most likely fishermen and hunters (via license fees). Fishermen don’t want it sprayed, so I think the dock owners who want it sprayed should float the bill, then we will see how bad they want their dock sprayed. If they would just wait a year, Abilene will have it sucked down so low that there won’t be enough water to grow grass.

Yes it does but that was not going happen. And thanks to everyone that posted on the WCTMWD face book page.
I hope that what the biologist from TPWD told me is true.
He also said that the water district would not be spraying they would.

I've fished it twice in the last 3 weeks and if any has been sprayed, I haven't seen it. Granted, I've not been around the docks on Tanglewood, but the areas of the lake I've been on, the hydrilla is still green just under the surface. Some of what is on top is yellowish, but the grass under the surface is still green, so I don't know if the color is due to the heat we had during August or what.

Just a point of conversation, the state considers hydrilla it an invasive species. http://www.tsusinvasives.org/home/da...a-verticillata So, I wouldn't know if the TPWD would spray due to the invasive status or if they would seek compensation from the water district. I guarantee you that if it's the latter, the City of Abilene will find a way to tack it on our water bill.
