How to Fish a Marabou Hair Jig for Monster Smallies

I have been playing a lot with a marabou hair jig the past 2 years and wanted to share what I have learned and show some fish catches on it. Check it out and let me know if you have any questions!

    Some great fish!

Is it purely a marabou jig, or does it have some type of hair mixed it?

    A few questions:
Name a few good hair jigs that are readily available to purchase?
What kind of areas are you targeting?
Looks like a slow steady retrieve with no twitches or imparted action?
How close to the bottom are you keeping the bait?
I'm sure I will have more but these will get me started! Thanks

Thanks! It is all marabou. It gives it the most buoyancy and give it the best gliding actions as it comes through the water.

I have only used the ones my buddy makes for me. I've heard Andy Custom is good and so is the Fieder Fly by outcast. I target flats that are 10' or less and keep it right about mid water column. I do not twitch it at all. If i see a cruiser that wont eat it when reeling it past them I sometimes pitch it and just let it sit on the bottom and they will pick it up.

This is a good place to get marabou jigs: http://www.zigjig.com/

Get the ones with the heavy duty hook. I have caught river smallmouth and trout with them, haven't tried it on lakes yet.

He does have a 4 dozen minimum purchase however, but they are relatively inexpensive.

Would not recommend Andy's, junk hook. Stick with the Feider fly
