Most guys here in Michigan use spinning rods but I use a Falcon Cara MH casting rod and 14 lb. fluoro since I like to use heavier (3/8th oz. and up) heads with 4" tubes. Gotta make sure that hook is buried - these smallies get big up North!

I have two setups: Megabass FMJ with 15# FC, and a Tatula Elite 71MH with 8# FC. I only throw heavy tubes 3/8oz and 1/2oz.

I went through a couple till I found the one. Alpha Angler Tac Mag, it's a 7'6" Med Fast. Perfect rod for a 3/8 ounce tube, which is what i throw most on St Clair. I put a Vanquish 4000 on it and it's a magical combo. Tons of power.

7’-1” med St Croix Mojo spinning rod. Can cast tubes farther with it and has enough backbone to drill the hooks home. More sensitive than casting rods imo

I use a Fenwick HMG m/h 7’ for tubes. Though on the Great Lakes I’d use something longer but in that m/h action

I always wanted to try that rod, but already having a 852 I just could not justify it...
