For steak I would say Perini steak house Buffalo Gap https://www.periniranch.com/ or Sharon Allen's Land and Cattle Company, Mexican would be Abuelos , pizza would be Brickhouse Oven. Several Chinese places with China Star being my buffet choice. Catfish and burgers would be Catfish Corner or Duetschlanders in Buffalo Gap. Both have good fish and great burgers. Several decent BBQ places but none outstanding in my opinion.
Taylor County Taphouse is a good specialty cuisine eatery. http://www.taylorcountytaphouse.com/
Abuelos, Perini ranch and brick oven are the only places I eat.
I used to go to the Royal Inn for a real man sized Steak!! I'll bet it has probably been torn down by now!
It's still here, but now a 1 star hotel ... a real dive looking at it from the outside. I haven't eaten there since my RC airplane days in the 70s. Becky and I were still dating back then . They used to have a Chateaubriand for 2 that was pretty damn good. I doubt they have a restaurant any more.
All the others mentioned are good. Also the Bee Hive down town has a great steak and Cypress Street Station can't be overlooked. I had a killer boneless, thick cut pork chop in there about 3 weeks ago. If you go to Perini's, reservations are required and you need to try the Green Chile Hominy. Muey bueno!!
For BBQ, the SHED can’t be beat. They have a delicious green chili Mac and cheese.

Thank you very much guys. I don't think I will go hungry up there. I might just check out Perini.
As Reggie said the Hominy at PR is excellent with cowboy potatoes and Ribeye and finish it off with the bread pudding.
Best place I’ve ever been to in Abilene is Young’s Home Cooking. They ain’t in the phone book.
Ya gotta know somebody to get a seat.
"ain't too smart.....but I'm always thinkin"
Joe Allen's, Lytle , Beehive for steaks. The Shed and Sharon's for BBQ, Szechuan Chinese on S 1st is absolutely the best I've ever ate. We've been venturing over to Baird at Circa 1880 lately,,, excellent food. Los Arcos, Oscar's, El Mercado-Clyde for mexican food
For a snack I suggest an Alsup's and get a bean/beef burrito, and a Hatch green chili burrito.
Be sure and buy a roll of toilet paper with that burrito.
My backyard, but it is exclusive!
Guess you guys are a little wimpy. I get a burrito, Chimi, and a sausage on a stick at one visit. I sometimes change the sausage to tamales.
