What is difference between the two?

LVS32 requires a black box and gives you a much wider cone angle that the LVS12. The LVS 12 will hook directly to the Ultra series and the 8XXX series without need of a black box. The 12 is limited but has it's applications. The 32 is generally considered the better of the two, but it also depends on what and how you plan to use it.
How much wider of a cone
The 32 give you a 135 degree field of view, with a 20 degree wide cone. The 12 is 30 degree field of view by 30 degree cone? Not sure on the LVS12 cone angle to be honest.

Garmin list the Lvs32 as 20 x 135. 20* wide by 135 vertical
and the LVS12 as. 30 x 20. I think that translates to 30* vertical and 20 * wide
Wonder What they reverse the numbers if the above is correct
Anyway op before you take the plunge make sure that you research some. The 12 leaves a lot to be desired as far as coverage but it
also leaves a good bit of money in your bank account
Im sure there is a use/reason for the 12 but it escapes me except maybe in the down view.
My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.
Will the LVS32 work without the box with the new units? Thanks for all the great info.
John
LVS 32 must have the black box. The LVS12 doesn't need it with the Ultra series or the GPSmap 8000 series.
