I have seen some nice images with the 19.1 Carbon and the 3 and 1. Currently after studying numerous screen shots have brought my Carbon up to the 19.1 kept my 3D Module at 18.3 123. The stucture and cover may not be as crisp but fish shadows show up better.
It sounds like the real, problem is with 3D box, not running one so hope it is a non issue for me. Thanks

Today I shipped my 3D module to Lowrance. maybe I’ll luck out and they will get the downscan imaging improved.
Lowrance said they updated my 3D module, images on the water looked the same. Called them while on water, after they had me try a few settings they said must be faulty transducer. They overnighted me a replacement and now all images are great.
I have settled at 18.3 133 on my Carbon and 18.3 123 on my 3D Module. After playing with transduer angles ect. I am starting to get some very nice images.

Granted these shots were taken with wind 10 to 20mph and about 1 1/2 foot visability..but I've finally gotten something that I believe I can work with. Carbon 18.3 .133 and 3D 18.3 61 1 .123

Thank you very much. I'm installing the 3d on my boat this winter and I've been following all posts pertaining to this issue. And everyone seems to come up with the same general conclusion.
Reel Addict - What transducer are you using for your 2d?
I run a HDI epoxied to hull. Also select generic 83/200hz tranducer for installation.
So if i updated my live unit to 19.1 but dont update my 3d will i still be fine? I need 19.1 to make my livesight work but im scared to screw thing up.
That is the way to go. Leave your SS 3D alone and just update the HDS. Remember to save waypoints and do a hard reset after the update. (Your LiveSight-transducer also needs to be updated.)
Anyone have a link to the 18.3 update so that I can see if this fixes my issue?

Why are your 2D and Downscan images so far off from each other? To me it appears your 2D is giving a poor image, like it's at a different angle.
Does anyone have files for 18.3 61.1.133 and 18.3 61.1.155?
I am currently using HDI epoxied to hull that is approximately 3 feet further up towards bow from 3D Xducer. Have not been that concerned at this point as I have been working on image quallity for now. I believe I can slow down ping speed and make it more accurate?
