    25 Fury 4 set up

I purchased 25 Fury 4 and installed on my 2012 stratos 294 EVO. Its a 200 pro xs. When started it, was 3.5and all I can get is 5250 RPM @ 65 mph gps, granted it is summer and i'M AT 770 Elevation. My 25 Tempest with cup added was losing some as well. I was doing around same speed with set up, but RPM's were 5450. This tempest will turn 5700 in winter and hit 70.5 on good days. It may be a motor issue but when I went to 3" below pad my holeshot was the same but lost top end and RPM's. No poles but I'm running 3 31 series batteries, lots of tackle + 80 lb Ultrex.
My tach reading's is digital and my water pressure was 18 psi @ WOT. Hole shot is super and love how it handles. almost forgot its on a 6" slidemaster. Yesterday in a small tourney, I was doing 65 with a heavy guy riding and a 1/2 tank of fuel.

I have the same boat and motor. Running 26 Fury 3 blade. Low 70’s @ 5650.

Any way, your RPM’s are too low. It certainly is getting bite...that is 8% prop slip. Needs to be a little higher for optimal performance, TYPICALLY. I do not have a lot of experience with the 4 blades, but anyway, I think you need to be in the 5600-5700 rpm range for max performance. Lugging a 2 stroke is not a good idea. 5250 is low for WOT. I think you need to raise the motor 1/4” at a time until you get higher rpms. Keep an eye on water pressure. 18psi seems low for running at 3.5” below pad. I get 20-25 psi at wot.

Also, what is your trim level? Do you feel you are getting it trimmed up all the way?

Maybe be post this on the Stratos page and get other opinions.

    Chris

If it turns the tempest 5700 in the winter the 25 fury is too much prop in the summer drop to a 24".

Thanks guys, I might need a motor tuned up as well, I could've have been wrong on water psi. I feel like I lost some HP, cause my tempest would turn 5500 last year and had better holeshot, now I struggle to get 5400. I also seem like my fuel consumption is less with fury 4 but maybe because it is not turning as high of rpm's @ WOT and is more efficient at midrange.

If your "Tempest would turn 5500 last year", then it was the wrong prop last year also. The motor needs to turn 5700 LOADED RPM's.

A 25 Tempest is typically not enough with this set up. Mine would always hit the rev limiter at WOT. I moved to a 26 tempest but they are known to be “off” and it was. I switched to Fury 26 3blade and it performs well. Unless, he is extremely heavily loaded.

I know now every hull is different, but I think bb45 has a little set up issue.

25 tempest works good. Your gonna loose a little in heat of summer and high humidity we have here. It will hit 5700 easy in winter. I tried a 26 tempest and it sucked on holeshot and wouldnt get above 5400 either. Dont know actual weight in boat. The 2 troller batteries are 108lbs cranking is 74 lbs. Its a the biggest agm you can buy. 2 gen 3 12's , 9 and 7. 13 rods, my tackle which includes kitchen sink, lol. I also have a a poece of poly over bilge in battery box and junk in it. One 3 bank and one 2 bank minnkota charger. Sonic hub etc. I think that covers it. Might try lighting up and see. I have 770 hrs on engine as well and use dons cocktail every time.

Those are awesome numbers. Prop slip is only 4%. I am surprised it stays in that RPM range with the 24P, but that awesome. I bet it comes out of the hole like a rocket.

You will see a fuel economy increase for sure. I ran a 24/4 on a bass cat caracal for 18 mo and fuel economy got better with it. I have since moved to a 17 puma ftd with a 250 pro xs. I went from a 3 blade 25 @ aroun 4.4 max mpg. To a 25/4 blade and I see 4.8-5.4 mpg with a fair bit of gear. The fury 4 gives my boat alot of stern lift. Not sure on the stratos but about 75% of the guys running my set up lowered their p2p from about 3" to 3.5" I think more so to reduce the steering stiffness.
