    HDS 9 Gen3 keeps asking to update

    Is there a way to tell my unit not to ask me to update everytime I power it up on the lake.... there's no way in heck I'm updating to 18.2 ever.

    Go into the files menu and delete the partial update files that are there.

    Edited to add: I also run Gen 3 9Ts and have the latest update. Everything runs fine on mine.

    18.2 is bad?? I think I just did the latest one, dated September 18.

    People with Gen 3's have issues with the software freezing sonar and freezing the unit (restarting unexpectedly..), etc. I had to go back to the older version. It worked fine on one of my gen 3's but not on the other. I will never touch it again.

    Do you know what folder it's in? I tried to open the 'updaters' folder but nothing is in it. I don't see the files anywhere else.

    Don't have my units with me but it should be obvious after you open the Files tool. You have to scroll the menu up to get to the Files tool.

    Yeah. It shows a bunch of folders in there but I don't see any "upd" files in there.

    System , advanced, down at the bottom internet. Open and turn service off. That will stop it from checking. Len

    Usually this comes from:
    1. A partial download.
    2. Something in the network needs updating.

    Here we have the second option, and the unit will keep on asking until you do the update or turn the reminders off. #13 covers the last option. (I run the latest SW on my Gen 3 btw, no issues.)

    With all the issues people seem to have, if I haven't updated to latest version, is it worth doing the update?

    What unit? I run Gen 3 with the latest update and have no issues at all. I always keep my units up to date on software and have not experienced the issues that so many seem to have from new software releases.

    I did this and my unit still asks about updating. Any other solutions?

    This has been happening to one of my units. Was wondering what was going on...How can I go back to a previous version? I've also had my units telling me to update but I think its the 3d module that it wants me to update. Does that have issues too?

    I really am at a loss to understand why updates seem to have so many issues. I ran all day today, fully up to date on my Gen 3 units with not one problem. Not discounting that others have problems but am I just lucky? I’ve never had a problem. Fingers crossed.

    I'm guessing that the answer is yes, you're lucky. Mine does exactly as others stated. Freezes intermittently, for sometimes a minute or 2 (usually when I'm locating fish to top it off) sometimes it will just turn off and restart randomly without the freezing, other times it will restart after the 2 min. Freeze. It's really frustrating at times...I don't get it either. You would think the updates are made to make the software run better but it seems lately it's the opposite.
